The ongoing training of fire fighters is the cornerstone of fire protection and service to the community. The West Sacramento Fire Department, in partnership with the other professional fire departments in Yolo County, has developed a regional training and safety program that has been widely recognized as a model for programs delivering training and education.

Each firefighter receives at least 300 hours of training each year in all areas of fire service delivery.
