Crime Prevention & OutreachThe vitality of our city depends on how safe we keep our homes, neighborhoods, workplaces, schools and communities because crime and fear diminish the quality of life for all. Crime and fear destroy our trust in others and in institutions, threatening the community's health and property.

The Police Department's Crime Prevention Unit Crime offers services that are designed to get neighbors involved in community policing efforts. The Unit work closely with community members, neighborhood associations, the school district, and local businesses to address crime and quality of life issues. The Crime Prevention Unit focuses on preserving public safety and enhancing neighborhood livability to meet the needs of each neighborhood or business area.

Crime prevention and educational programs offered by the police department include:

  • Neighborhood and Business Watch Programs
  • National Night Out
  • Gang Resistance Education and Training (GREAT) Program

The West Sacramento Police Department urges all citizens, government agencies, public and private institutions, and businesses to recognize the power of prevention and work together for the common good.
